Chicago head to St Louis on the back of a defeat, but in poor form with eight defeats in their last 11 games.
The Blackhawks’ rough run began in late November with a 3-2 defeat at home to Seattle, which was followed by a 9-3 loss in Buffalo.
They then returned home to lose 1-0 to Colorado, 4-3 to Minnesota and 4-3 to Nashville, before finally stopping the rot with a 5-3 victory over Anaheim.
Chicago failed to follow that up as they lost 4-3 in Vegas, and they then failed to back up a 2-1 success in Los Angeles as they lost the second half of that double-header, 6-0.
The Blackhawks wrapped up that road trip with a 7-1 blowout loss in Anaheim, but they did enjoy a winning homecoming this week as they took down the New York Rangers 3-0.
St Louis Blues Form
St Louis have been on a rollercoaster run of form over the past several weeks, losing six of their previous 10 games.
The Blues began this sequence with back-to-back road defeats, as they fell 3-2 at the New York Rangers and 3-2 in New Jersey.
They rallied at home to beat Ottawa 4-3 and Utah 1-0, but they failed to keep that winning run going as they were beaten 4-1 by Anaheim and 5-2 at Boston.
St Louis again avoided a three-game skid as they won 2-1 in Ottawa, and that was followed by a 4-3 victory in Montreal.
The Blues went cold after that though, as they lost 5-2 to Boston before heading back out on the road to lose 7-2 in Nashville.
Verdict
St Louis have given up a bunch of goals over the past couple of games and now face a Chicago team that hit for eight on the home ice earlier this season.
