The Avalanche ended that month with a 5-0 victory at Detroit, only to start February with a 2-0 defeat to the Red Wings.
They rebounded quickly though, beating San Jose 4-2 at home in their final game before the break for the Winter Olympics.
Colorado then returned to action with a 4-2 victory in Utah, but failed to follow that up as they fell to a 5-2 defeat at home to Minnesota.
The Avalanche responded swiftly to that loss however, as they downed Chicago 3-1 this past weekend.
Los Angeles Kings Form
Los Angeles enter this matchup having finally ended their recent losing skid with a weekend win.
The Kings enjoyed a good run in late January as they reeled off three consecutive wins, but they were unable to maintain that consistency.
The run was ended by a 4-1 loss in Buffalo, and they then failed to back up a 3-2 overtime victory against Philadelphia as they lost the next five.
Los Angeles lost 3-2 in overtime at Carolina, and that was followed by a 4-2 loss to Seattle, 4-1 and 6-4 defeats to Vegas, and an 8-1 blowout loss in Edmonton.
The Kings did stop the rot on Saturday though, as they shut out Calgary in a 2-0 victory over the Flames.
Verdict
Colorado have had Los Angeles’ number in recent seasons, and it was not even close in the two previous meetings during the current campaign.
The Avalanche are in better form too, so we expect a fairly routine win for the visitors.
