The Stars rode a rollercoaster of form during the first several weeks of the season, as they won three straight, lost four in a row and then won three consecutive games.
That second three-game streak was ended by a 2-1 overtime loss at Tampa Bay with a 4-3 shootout defeat to Florida.
Dallas avoided a third straight loss as they beat Edmonton via a shootout, 4-3, only to then return to losing ways with a 7-5 defeat to Anaheim.
The Stars have not lost since though, following up a 5-4 win in Nashville with a 2-1 victory at home to Seattle and a 3-2 overtime success in Ottawa.
Montreal Canadiens Form
Montreal enter this matchup having now lost three of their previous four games to fall to 10-4-2.
The Canadiens kicked off the season with a defeat, but rallied to win six of their next seven games, before suffering a 6-5 defeat in Edmonton.
They rebounded from that loss with three consecutive 4-3 wins, beating Vancouver in regulation and both Seattle and Ottawa in overtime.
Montreal failed to keep that run going though as they suffered a 5-4 shootout defeat at the hands of Philadelphia.
The Canadiens then sandwiched a 6-2 win at home to Utah with a 4-3 overtime defeat in New Jersey and a 5-1 loss at home to Los Angeles.
Verdict
Dallas have momentum on their side heading into this, and we cannot ignore how good their recent record in Montreal is.
