The Kings earned their place in the postseason by compiling a 44-27-11 record to finish third in the Pacific Division.
They ended the regular season in good form too, winning three of their final four games, but made a losing start to the playoffs as they were betane 7-4 in Edmonton.
Los Angeles responded to that setback with a 5-4 overtime win, but they were unable to build on that when they returned home for Games 3 and 4.
