The Wild ended 2024 with a victory and built on that by winning their first three outings of 2025.
That run was ended by a 6-1 loss to Colorado, and they then failed to build on a 3-1 win in San Jose as they lost 4-1 in Vegas, 5-3 at home to Edmonton and 6-2 in Nashville.
Minnesota avoided a fourth straight loss, winning 3-1 in Colorado, only to then lose 4-0 to Utah at 5-4 to Calgary at home.
The Wild bounced back over the weekend though, as they travelled to Chicago take down the Blackhawks, 4-2.
Toronto Maple Leafs Form
Toronto return home in need of a victory, having lost five of their last eight games and each of the last two.
The Maple Leafs enjoyed a five-game win streak in early 2025, only to see it end with a 6-3 victory in Carolina.
They then lost 3-0 to Vancouver and 4-1 to Dallas at home, before rebounding with a run of three consecutive victories.
Toronto beat New Jersey 4-3 in overtime, before downing Montreal 7-3 on the road and Tampa Bay 5-3 at home.
The Maple Leafs failed to keep that run going however, as they were blown out 5-1 at home by Columbus, before losing 2-1 in Ottawa.
Verdict
It feels like only a matter of time before Toronto get back on track, and this is a great opportunity.
They have a good recent record against a Minnesota team on a rough run of form, so we are backing the hosts to stop the rot.
