New Jersey head to Colorado having responded from their opening-night loss with eight consecutive victories.
The Devils were beaten 6-3 in Carolina in their season-opener, but have been on a tear ever since.
They got off the mark with a 5-3 win in Tampa Bay, and backed that up with a 3-2 victory in Columbus before heading home to take down defending champions Florida, 3-1.
New Jersey then beat the other team that contested last season’s Stanley Cup, the Edmonton Oilers, 5-3, before travelling to Toronto to beat the Maple Leafs 5-2.
The Devils took their streak as eight games as they went back home to beat Minnesota 4-1, San Jose 3-1 and Colorado 4-3 in overtime.
Colorado Avalanche Form
Colorado return home looking to snap a four-game losing skid that has left them with a 5-1-4 record.
The Avalanche made a flying start to the season as they beat Los Angeles 4-1 on the road and Utah 2-1 at home.
They then rebounded from a 5-4 shootout loss to Dallas with three consecutive victories, beating Buffalo 3-1 and Columbus 4-1 on the road, before downing Boston at home, 2-1.
Colorado have not won since though, with the 4-3 overtime defeat in Utah kicking off this three-game skid.
The Avalanche then lost via a shootout to Colorado, before going out on the road to lose 3-2 in Boston and 4-3 in overtime at New Jersey.
Verdict
New Jersey are the hottest team in the NHL right now and that makes them an appealing underdog in Colorado.
They beat the Avalanche at home this past weekend, and we would not be shocked to see them repeat that win on the road.
