Pittsburgh head to Sweden on a disappointing run of form, having lost four of their last five games to slip to 9-5-3.
The Penguins split their first four games of the season, before hitting a hot streak in late October as they reeled off four straight wins.
That run was ended by a 5-4 shootout loss to Columbus, and they have struggled to rediscover that consistency since then.
Pittsburgh sandwiched a 3-2 shootout loss in Philadelphia with a 6-3 win over St Louis and a 4-1 victory at Minnesota, before losing back-to-back road games, 5-2 in Winnipeg and 4-3 at Toronto.
The Penguins avoided a third straight loss by beating Washington 5-3, only to then lose 2-1 to New Jersey and 3-2 at Los Angeles.
Nashville Predators Form
Nashville travelled to Stockholm on a miserable run of form, having lost eight of their previous nine games to fall to 5-9-4.
The Predators opened with two wins in their first three games, only to then lose four consecutive matchups before finally rallying with back-to-back wins.
However, those success in late October remain the only time that they have won back-to-back games this season.
Nashville failed to build on those wins as they lost 3-2 to Dallas, 5-2 to Tampa Bay and 4-1 in Philadelphia, before briefly stopping the rot with a 4-2 win over Calgary.
The Predators then lost in overtime to both Vancouver, 5-4, and Minnesota, 3-2, before falling 3-1 to Philadelphia, 5-4 to Dallas and 6-3 to the New York Rangers.
Verdict
Neither team is in good form, but Pittsburgh have offered some reasons for optimism.
Nashville, on the other hand, are in horrible shape, so we expect the Penguins to draw first blood in this Stockholm double-header.
