The Maple Leafs enjoyed a good run in November that included a season-best four-game win streak.
They started that run with 4-3 overtime wins against Washington and Edmonton, and kept it going with a 3-0 victory over Vegas and a 3-2 success against Utah.
Toronto’s run was halted by a 5-1 defeat at Florida, but they responded immediately to beat Tampa Bay 5-3 at home, and Chicago 4-1 and Nashville 3-2 on the road.
The Maple Leafs failed to make it four-in-a-row as they lost 3-1 to Washington, and they then fell to a 5-2 defeat when they visited Pittsburgh.
New Jersey Devils Form
New Jersey enter this matchup on a mixed run of form, having won three and lost three in their last six games.
The Devils put together a three-game winning run in late November that started with a 4-2 victory when they hosted Carolina.
They then won 3-2 in Washington and 5-2 at home against Nashville, only to see this positive sequence end with a 3-0 loss to St Louis.
New Jersey bounced back with a 5-4 win in Detroit, but they failed to back up that victory as they then lost 6-5 to Washington.
The Devils responded with a 5-1 win over the New York Rangers and a 3-2 success against Seattle, only to then draw a blank as they were shutout in a 4-0 loss to Colorado.
Verdict
Toronto may have lost their last two, but their form over the past few weeks has been solid.
They have also had New Jersey's number in recent years, so the Maple Leafs make for an appealing underdog in this one.
