The Golden Knight’s rough run began on the road as they were blown out 7-1 by Ottawa, before suffering a 3-2 overtime defeat to Montreal.
Their losing skid then reached five games as they lost 5-4 to Dallas and 3-2 to Seattle at home, before heading to Anaheim for a 4-3 defeat.
Vegas finally snapped their skid with a 5-2 win at home to Vancouver, and then backed that up with a couple of victories over Los Angeles, winning 4-1 at home and 6-4 on the road.
The Golden Knights failed to maintain that momentum though, losing 3-2 in Washington and 5-0 at Pittsburgh.
Detroit Red Wings Form
Detroit also enter this matchup on an underwhelming run, having dropped six of their previous 10 games.
The Red Wings enjoyed a three-game win streak in the second half of January, but struggled to regain that consistency after the 4-3 overtime loss in Minnesota.
They won 5-1 in Edmonton, only to then return home and lose 3-1 to Los Angeles, 4-3 to Washington and 5-0 to Colorado.
Detroit avenged that loss to the Avalanche with a 2-0 victory on the road, only to then suffer a 4-1 defeat in Utah.
The Red Wings then sandwiched a 5-2 road defeat at Carolina with a 2-1 overtime victory in Ottawa and a 4-2 success at Nashville.
Verdict
Detroit have struggled for consistency in recent weeks, but we are leaning towards them in this one.
