Real Salt Lake vs St Louis City Previews & Picks - St Louis City to maintain perfect start in the MLS

The Western Conference leaders St Louis City travel to take on a Real Salt Lake side that are struggling right now having only won once this season. 

The two sides are yet to meet in a competitive match. 

Real Salt Lake have struggled massively despite winning their opening match. Their 2-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps was the perfect way to start the season, but this victory did not bring with it a sustained run of positive results.

Indeed, Real Salt Lake have since lost 2-0 to the Seattle Sounders and 2-1 to Austin FC. These defeats have left Real in ninth in the table, already nine points short of St Louis City at the top of the table. 

While there is still a lot of the season left to come, Real will know that they cannot afford to keep dropping points, especially at home. A win in this match against a side that are yet to drop any points would be a huge statement of intent. 

St Louis City have been excellent this season, with each of their four games ending in wins so far. 

Their opening match of the season saw them take all three points in a pulsating 3-2 win over Austin FC away from home. This was quickly followed by wins over Charlotte, Portland Timbers and San Jose Earthquakes. 

The league leaders have impressed so far, winning twice on the road, which is not ever easy to do. They have also scored three goals in three of their four matches so far. What will frustrate the side is their lack of clean sheets, with just one win to nil in four games. Perhaps their clash this weekend is the perfect chance to keep a second clean sheet in as many games.
