DC United vs New England Revolution Previews & Picks - New England to edge past DC United

DC United have found the start of the 2023 MLS season a tough place to be of late, and their first cluster of games is not getting any easier as they take on a New England Revolution side that are in fine form. 

Home advantage has been hugely important in recent matches between the pair. The team that has hosted the contest has won five of the last six matches, while New England have won seven of the last eight games between the two. 

DC United have struggled this year, with their solitary win in their opening match now feeling like a long time ago. 

Their 3-2 triumph over Toronto FC in their first match was quickly followed by a 2-0 loss to a Columbus Crew side that have not won since beating DC. This was followed by a better performance as they took a point from Orlando City, but they were then beaten again as they lost 3-2 to New York City. 

The four points they have picked up means they are six points short of Atlanta United at the top, while they are five behind their next opponents. Another defeat here would further harm their hopes of a top-placed finish, while it would also dent their fragile confidence after their rough start. 

New England Revolution have impressed this year as they continue to win games and pick up impressive results. 

A 1-0 win over Charlotte in their season opener was quickly followed by a 3-0 dismantling of Houston Dynamo in their second match. Confidence was high going into game three, but they were brought back down to earth with a bump as they were humbled in a 4-0 loss to LAFC. 

Revolution were able to bounce back immediately as they beat Nashville 1-0 in their next game to ensure they did not fall further behind Atlanta at the top. While they were humiliated in a 4-0 loss to LAFC in game three, New England have impressed at the back this year, keeping three clean sheets in four games, and they will fancy their chances of making it four clean sheets this weekend.
