FC Cincinnati vs Portland Timbers Previews & Picks - Cincinnati to rekindle their winning habit this week

FC Cincinnati saw their unbeaten start to the season come crashing down last time out as they were hammered 5-1 by St Louis City. 

Portland Timbers finally got back to winning ways last week as they outclassed the Seattle Sounders 4-1. 

FC Cincinnati won their clash 3-0 when they last hosted the Timbers back in 2019, while the Timbers won on penalties when the teams came together in 2020. 

FC Cincinnati will be scratching their heads this week after conceding more goals in their loss to St Louis City (five) than they had in their previous seven games combined (four). 

Clearly, it was just a bad day at the office for FC Cincinnati, but they need to ensure it does not happen again, with their woes against the top side in the Western Conference showing their own conference that FC Cincinnati are not unbeatable. 

Saying that, Cincinnati are currently perfect at home, winning four matches, scoring five and conceding once in this time. While they will still be hurting from their loss last week, they will fancy themselves to bounce back at the first time of asking this week. 

Portland Timbers were finally able to back up their win on the opening day by clinching three points in their eighth match of the season in a 4-1 win over the Seattle Sounders. 

Sandwiched between these two victories, the Timbers have lost four times and drawn twice, with just one of these draws coming on the road. 

Worrying for the Timbers is the fact they have only scored four goals in four away games, conceding 10 times. With a wounded FC Cincinnati side to come this week, the Timbers know they are up against it this weekend.
