Alejandro Tabilo recently reached the semifinals in Bastad with the help of a first-round bye and a walkover a few weeks ago. Apart from that result, he failed to win a match in his other four recent events, including a disappointing opening-round loss to the inexperienced Tiago Torres in Estoril last week.
Despite his recent slump, the Chilean has produced several impressive results this season, including a runner-up finish in Rio de Janeiro, quarterfinals in Buenos Aires and Santiago, a fourth-round appearance at the French Open, and a couple of Challenger finals.
Those results helped him return to the top 30 in the rankings. Last year, he played four tournaments during the North American hard-court swing but won only one main-draw match. He will now look for a better showing while making his Washington debut.

Griekspoor Seeks to End Difficult Run
After a disappointing grass-court swing, where he won just one match across three tournaments, Tallon Griekspoor took a few weeks off and entered exhibition events in an attempt to regain his momentum. However, he lost both of his matches.
The 30-year-old enjoyed a strong start to the season, reaching the quarterfinals in Montpellier and Rotterdam before advancing to the final in Dubai, where he suffered a hamstring injury and was forced to give Daniil Medvedev a walkover before the championship match.
Since returning from that injury, Griekspoor has struggled to rediscover his best tennis, failing to win a match in seven of his last nine ATP Tour events, highlighting his difficult run of form.
This will be his second appearance in Washington. During his debut in 2023, he reached the final, and he will be hoping a return to the tournament helps him end his recent struggles and regain confidence.
