Alcaraz Continues Clay Court Dominance

Carlos Alcaraz moved into the Monte Carlo final with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Valentin Vacherot. He dropped serve once and converted three of four break-point chances.

He is now on a 17-match winning streak on clay and has won 26 of his last 27 matches on the surface, underlining his dominance.

The 22-year-old started the season strongly with 16 consecutive wins before being stopped by Daniil Medvedev in the Indian Wells semifinal, followed by a surprise loss to Sebastian Korda in Miami.

He has now bounced back by reaching his second Monte Carlo final. After a first-round loss in 2022, he returned last year to win the title, defeating Lorenzo Musetti from a set down in the final.

Alcaraz holds an 11-5 record in tour-level clay finals and will face Jannik Sinner for the third consecutive time in a clay final, having beaten him in Rome and at the French Open last year.

Sinner Extends Masters Winning Streak

Jannik Sinner booked his place in the Monte Carlo final with a dominant 6-1, 6-4 win over Alexander Zverev. He did not face a single break point and converted all four of his opportunities.

He has now defeated Zverev multiple times in Masters semifinals and gone on to win the title on each of those occasions, including the most recent three.

Sinner had a slow start to the season with losses to Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open and Jakub Mensik in Doha, but responded with back-to-back titles at Indian Wells and Miami.

This is his fourth consecutive Masters final, and he has won the previous three in Paris, Indian Wells, and Miami, carrying a 21-match winning streak at this level.

Sinner holds a 27-9 record in tour-level finals, winning his last three. On clay, he has played three finals, all against Carlos Alcaraz, and lost two of them.

Verdict

Given his dominance, siding with Sinner makes sense here. Sinner to win, along with over 2.5 sets and over 22.5 games, all fit well in what could still be a competitive, high-quality contest.
