Cerundolo Looking To Repeat Past Hamburg Success
Francisco Cerundolo started his Hamburg campaign with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 victory over Alejandro Tabilo before losing to Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets in the following round.
The Argentine enjoyed a strong start to the season by winning the title in Buenos Aires, reaching the fourth round at the Australian Open, and making the quarterfinals in Miami. However, his performances have dipped in recent weeks.
Last year, Cerundolo produced excellent results during this part of the clay season, reaching back-to-back semifinals in Munich and Madrid along with the fourth round in Rome. Falling short of defending those points this year pushed him outside the top 20 rankings.
This will be his fifth appearance in Hamburg, and he has cleared the opening round in three of his previous four visits. His best runs at the tournament include a semifinal in 2022 and a quarterfinal in 2024.
