Mariano Navone defeated Alex Molcan 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 to reach the semifinal in Bucharest. He trailed by a break and saved four of five break points in the decider to complete the comeback.

Before this week, he had not recorded multiple main-draw wins on tour since Winston-Salem last year. His only standout result came at the Cap Cana Challenger, where he won the title.

Navone has played three tour-level semifinals in his career, all in 2024, winning two of them, including here in Bucharest and in Rio de Janeiro, but he has yet to convert any into a title.

Zandschulp Cruises Into Last Four

Botic van de Zandschulp defeated Damir Dzumhur 6-3, 6-3 to reach the semifinal in Bucharest. He was broken once and converted four break points.

He started the season well with a third-round run at the Australian Open and a quarterfinal in Rotterdam, but struggled in recent weeks, winning just one match in his last three events.

This run comes as a confidence boost, especially with few ranking points to defend until Kitzbühel in July. It gives him a good opportunity to climb back toward the top 50.

Van de Zandschulp holds a 3-5 record in tour-level semifinals, with two wins coming on clay in Munich. His most recent semifinal loss came against Alexander Bublik in Kitzbuhel last year.
