Valentin Royer enjoyed a major breakthrough in 2025, climbing the rankings and reaching a career-high of world No. 56, which has opened the door to regular main-tour opportunities.
So far, however, he has struggled to take advantage of that exposure, losing all three matches he has played this season, including two straight-set defeats.
He will look to turn things around in Montpellier, where he continues his search for a first win of the year. Royer made his tournament debut here in 2025 but exited in the opening round of qualifying.

Arthur Fils Back in Action After Months Away From Competition
Arthur Fils was enjoying an excellent spell early in the 2025 season before his momentum was abruptly halted by injury.
That setback sidelined him for a prolonged period, forcing him to shut down his season after the Toronto Masters and leading to a noticeable drop in his ranking.
He now returns to competitive action in familiar surroundings, having enjoyed a strong run here in 2023.
On his ATP Montpellier debut in 2023, Fils reached the semifinals before bowing out to Jannik Sinner. It was also his only previous appearance at this event.
