Hubert Hurkacz must be encouraged by his start to the season after a lengthy injury layoff that brought plenty of uncertainty around his fitness and level.
He hit the ground running at the United Cup, winning four of five matches and recording statement victories over Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz.
That said, caution is still warranted, as players returning from injury often feel the physical toll as match load increases.
Those doubts resurfaced at the Australian Open, where Hurkacz scraped past Zizou Bergs in four sets before falling in straight sets to Ethan Quinn.
