Atlanta (82-74) is hanging onto to the NL East lead by a thread, leading Philadelphia by 1.5 games. The Braves magic number to clinch the division is seven.

Chavez is making just his third start of the year. The 38-year-old is 0-1 as a starter as he has given up three hits along with two runs in 3.2 innings. 

San Diego (78-77) was eliminated from playoff contention with Saturday night’s loss to Atlanta.

The Padres have lost two straight and seven of eight. The Padres are 3-7 in last 10. San Diego is 45-35 at home and 54-57 at home.

Musgrove is enduring his worst month of the season as he has 5.09 ERA. The 28-year-old has permitted five runs on eight hits in a 6-5 home loss to San Francisco. Musgrove has given up 24 hits, including five homers, and 13 runs while walking 12 and striking out 21.

Jorge Soler, who had four RBIs in the game, drove in the game-winning run in the top of the 10th inning as Atlanta scored two runs in the frame en route to a 10-8 victory. Soler and Austin Riley led the Braves 13 hit attack with three hits apiece.
