NFC East Predictions & Tips
Washington did not even need a winning record to take the NFC East in 2020? Can WFT retain their crown and could we see more of the same in 2021?
NFC East Predictions & Tips: Dallas Cowboys
It seems like every offseason Dallas are considered favorites to win the division and contenders to go all the way.
2021 is no different with the sportsbooks giving them the edge in what could be a close race.
The Cowboys were ravaged by injuries last season and had they kept a few more players healthy they could have won the East.
The return to fitness of Dak Prescott is huge and if he can stay healthy this season the offense should fire with the help of Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup.
There are questions over the defense though, and that means Dallas are not a completely convincing pick.
The good news is that they appear to have a soft schedule through to mid-November.
If that is the case and the Cowboys take advantage of it, they could put themselves in pole position heading into December.
NFC East Predictions & Tips: Washington Football Team
Washington won the division in 2020 despite an off-the-field crisis, head coach Ron Rivera’s cancer and the dumpster fire situation at quarterback.
Dwayne Haskins was dumped, leading to the incredible return of Alex Smith from an horrific injury.
Smith then went down and Taylor Heinicke raised a few eyebrows with an impressive performance when he was called upon in the playoffs.
Ryan Fitzpatrick has now been given the keys to the offense and he should provide some stability.
If he does, Washington could be headed back to the postseason on the back of their dominant defense.
That front four – Chase Young, Montez Sweat, Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen – are destructive, and that secondary has been strengthened in the offseason.
They say defense wins championships. It could win Washington another NFC East title in 2021.
NFC East Predictions & Tips: New York Giants
New York were a mess offensively last season with the early loss of Saquon Barkley a massive blow.
That left Daniel Jones with no notable weapons as he played behind a woeful offensive line that fell apart.
Barkley is back though and Jones is healthy again. And Jones has a good group of receivers to throw too.
Kenny Golladay is the best WR the Giants have had on the roster since Odell Beckham Jr left, while Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton and Kadarius Toney are a solid supporting cast.
And in Kyle Rudolph, Jones will have a reliable and experienced tight end to turn to.
Defensively New York may not be headline-grabbers, but this is a good group that is strong against the run and could put an improved secondary on the field in 2021.
They could be heading in the right direction in 2021, but that direction may not result in an division crown.
NFC East Predictions & Tips: Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia finished 4-11-1 last season so it was no surprise when they made major changes in the offseason.
Doug Pederson, Carson Wentz, Alshon Jeffery and Zach Ertz were among the high-profile names given the boot.
DeVonta Smith is an exciting draft pick who could produce fireworks and Miles Sanders poses a threat in the ground game.
But if that offensive line again fails to stay healthy, those weapons, and QB Jalen Hurts, will be neutered.
And if that is the case, it is going to be another miserable season for the Eagles because that defense does not offer a lot of promise.
Verdict
Having Dak back with all of those weapons around him makes Dallas a tempting pick to win the division.
But don’t sleep on Washington. They overcame a lot last season and a combination of competent offense and dominant defense could lead them to back-to-back NFC East titles.
