Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (27-3, 24 KOs) will take on former UFC heavyweight title-holder Francis Ngannou (0-1) at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Friday, March 8.

The winner of this contest is expected to face the winner of the unification showdown between the two current heavyweight champions, Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, so the stakes are high in this one.

Joshua rebounded from his back-to-back losses to Usyk with a three-fight win streak in 2023 that has put the two-time champion right back in the title picture.

He started the year with a unanimous decision victory over Jermaine Franklin, and then ended a three-year wait for a stoppage win by knocking out Robert Helenius in the seventh, before forcing Otto Wallin to retire on his stool after five rounds.

‘AJ’ will now look to make it four wins in a row when he returns to Saudi Arabia in March, but looking to deny him is a man who made a major splash in his professional boxing debut.

Ngannou, a former UFC heavyweight champion who never lost the belt in the Octagon, made his first foray into the ‘sweet science’ last year, and he did it in blockbuster fashion by sharing the ring with world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

The title was not up for grabs, but Ngannou fought like it was and sensationally knocked down Fury during the bout, only to suffer a controversial split decision defeat.

His performance was enough to earn a top-10 ranking from the WBC however, and if he can beat Joshua here he will be at the front of the queue for a world title fight later this year.
