BC Lions at Saskatchewan Roughriders Predictions & Picks

Saskatchewan are tipped to kick off their title defence with a victory.

The Roughriders have returned most of the roster that went all the way in 2025, and that consistency can be the key against an improving BC Lions group.

  • Saskatchewan Roughriders are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings
  • Saskatchewan Roughriders are 8-1-0 ATS in the previous 9 meetings
  • The Under has cashed in 4 of the previous 6 meetings

Head To Head

  • Saskatchewan Roughriders lead all-time series 87-81
  • Saskatchewan Roughriders won 24-21 when the two teams last met in November 2025

BC Lions Form

BC go into their 2026 opener looking to embark on a run that betters their postseason appearance last time around.

The Lions started slow over the first few months of last season to find themselves sitting at 5-7 in early September.

They got hot late in the campaign though, as they reeled off six consecutive victories to finish 11-7 and book their place in the playoffs.

BC successfully negotiated the first round as they took down Calgary, 33-30, only to see their Grey Cup dream end with a 24-21 defeat in Saskatchewan in the Western Final.

The Lions now have their sights set on going all the way in 2026, and they go into this game having split their pre-season outings, losing 34-16 at home to Edmonton and winning 30-19 in Winnipeg.

Saskatchewan Roughriders Form

Saskatchewan begin their defence of the CFL crown this weekend, having been on a bye in Week 1 like opponents BC.

The Roughriders went all the way in 2025, despite losing four of their final six regular season games to go into the playoffs cold.

A 12-6 record was enough to secure a bye, and in the Western Final they took down the BC Lions, 24-21, to seal their place in the Grey Cup.

Saskatchewan then lifted the trophy for the first time since 2013 as they beat Montreal 25-17 to claim the CFL championship.

The Roughriders have warmed up for their defence of the Grey Cup by rebounding from a 20-15 pre-season loss in Calgary with a 31-27 victory at home to Winnipeg.

Verdict

BC look like a serious threat heading into the new season, but we are sticking with the champions.

Saskatchewan have retained the bulk of the roster that won the Grey Cup last season, and their recent record against the Lions makes for good reading.
