Toronto are making a delayed start to their 2026 season, having been on a bye week in Week 1.
The Argonauts are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2025 campaign that saw them surrender the Grey Cup without putting up much of a fight.
They lost 13 of their 15 games to finish third in the Eastern Division standings and miss out on the postseason.
Toronto warmed up for the new campaign by splitting two pre-season matchups with Hamilton.
The Argonauts opened pre-season with a 20-10 victory on the road, before losing 20-14 when they entertained the Tiger-Cats a week later.
Montreal Alouettes Form
Montreal enter this matchup looking to maintain their 100% start to the season, having won in overtime on the road in Week 1.
The Alouettes came into the new campaign looking to go one better than they did in 2025, when they were beaten by Saskatchewan in the Grey Cup.
They made an ideal start too – although they were made to work for their victory on opening night.
Montreal kicked off this season with a visit to Hamilton for the CFL opener, and they came away with a 30-27 victory in overtime.
The Alouettes had gone into that matchup on the back of two pre-season defeats to Ottawa – falling 27-12 at home and 27-3 on the road.
Verdict
The return of Chad Kelly is a big boost for Toronto, but he is going to need some time to shake off the rust from a long absence.
Davis Alexander, on the other hand, looked sharp as the Alouettes kicked off their Grey Cup quest with a solid road win, so we are backing Montreal to take this matchup.
