Edmonton Elks Form

Edmonton travel to Calgary on their best run of the season so far, having won three straight games to improve to 4-6.

The Elks opened with a 31-14 defeat at the BC Lions, and then returned from an early-season bye with a 38-28 loss to Montreal and a 36-23 defeat in Winnipeg.

They avoided a fourth straight defeat as they beat Ottawa 39-33, but they failed to back that up as they went on to lose their next three games and fall to 1-6.

Edmonton lost 32-14 at home to BC, 21-18 on the road in Saskatchewan and 28-24 when they hosted Hamilton.

The Elks have not lost since though, backing up a 23-22 success in Montreal with a 28-20 win at home to Toronto and a 30-20 victory in Ottawa.

Calgary Stampeders Form

Calgary enter this matchup having rebounded from a rough end to July by winning back-to-back games to improve to 7-3.

The Stampeders kicked off the campaign with back-to-back victories, beating Hamilton 38-26 at home and Toronto 29-19 on the road.

Their perfect start was ended by a 20-12 loss to Ottawa, but they issued a strong response as they beat Winnipeg 37-16 at home, before heading out on the road to down Saskatchewan 24-10 and Winnipeg 41-20.

Calgary’s run was ended by a 23-21 defeat at home to Montreal, and they then suffered a 31-11 loss in Ottawa.

The Stampeders rebounded at home though, beating Winnipeg 28-27 and Saskatchewan 32-15.

Verdict

Both teams are in good form heading into this, but Calgary’s wins have come against better teams.

They have home advantage too for this one, so we are siding with the Stampeders on Monday night.
