Montreal Alouettes Form
Montreal went 0-7 when facing the three other semi-finalists during the regular season, but they were able to overcome that to make the playoffs.
The Alouettes clinched second place in the division by winning each of their final five games.
They snapped a four-game losing skid with a 28-11 win in Calgary, and backed that up with a 32-15 victory at Ottawa.
Montreal then beat the Redblacks at home, 29-3, before winning 35-21 in Edmonton and 22-20 at home to Hamilton to finish with an 11-7 record.
That earned the Alouettes home field advantage for the East semi-final with Hamilton, and they made it count in a 27-12 victory that took their win streak to six games.
Toronto Argonauts Form
Toronto enter the postseason having compiled a league-best 16-2 regular season record to earn a bye.
The defending champion Argonauts opened the season with a six-game win streak that was finally ended by a shock 20-7 defeat at Calgary.
They rebounded in style though, putting together another six-game win streak to put themselves firmly on course of the playoffs.
Toronto then dropped a rematch of last season’s Grey Cup, losing 31-21 in Winnipeg, but they have not lost since.
The Argonauts beat Edmonton 35-12 and Ottawa 40-27 at home, before heading out on the road to win 29-26 in Saskatchewan and 27-22 at Ottawa.
Verdict
Toronto dominated during the regular season, so there is little reason to doubt them here.
They are backed to power past a Montreal team who are 0-7 against the other three semi-finalists this season.
