  • Preview, predictions, stats & form
The top 50 in the FedEx Cup standings descend upon the Olympia Fields Country Club to compete for top honours at the BMW Championship this weekend. Who will lift the trophy come Sunday?

Patrick Cantlay is back to defend his title after a one-stroke victory over Scott Stallings in 2022 and will attempt to win this event for the third time in a row.

The top 30 players in the FedEx Cup points standings at the end of this tournament will qualify for the season-ending Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta, Georgia.

Past and present major winners in the lineup include Brian Harman, Wyndham Clark, Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, Lucas Glover, Keegan Bradley, Jason Day, Collin Morikawa, Jordan Spieth, Justin Rose, Matt Fitzpatrick, Rory McIlroy and Hideki Matsuyama.

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.

Tommy Fleetwood

Tommy Fleetwood has been in tremendous form on the PGA Tour since April, placing T15 at the RBC Heritage, T5 at the Wells Fargo Championship, T18 at the PGA Championship, MC at the Charles Schwab Challenge, 2nd at the RBC Canadian Open and T5 at the US Open.

He then MC at the Travelers Championship, T6 at the Genesis Scottish Open, T10 at the Open Championship and T3 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship last weekend.

Other prominent results achieved by Fleetwood this season include finishing T4 at the CJ Cup, 20th at the Hero World Challenge, T20 at the Genesis Invitational, T27 at the Players Championship and T3 at the Valspar Championship.

The Englishman has featured twice at the BMW Championship, placing T8 in 2018 and T11 in 2019.

Fleetwood has had four top-five places and two top-ten finishes in his last nine tournaments and will start with confidence that he can get over the finish line in Chicago.

Corey Conners

Corey Conners has been thereabouts for last few months on the PGA Tour, placing T8 at the Wells Fargo Championship, T12 at the PGA Championship, MC at the Memorial Tournament, T20 at the RBC Canadian Open, MC at the US Open, T9 at the Travelers Championship, T19 at the Genesis Scottish Open, T52 at the Open Championship and T6 at the recent FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Other noteworthy performances achieved by Conners this season include finishing T25 at the ZOZO Championship, T23 at the CJ Cup, 16th at the Hero World Challenge, T18 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, T12 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, T21 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T17 at the  WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play and victory at the Valero Texas Open.

The Canadian has previously achieved excellent results at this tournament, placing T7 in 2019, T33 in 2020, T22 in 2021 and T5 in 2022.

Conners has the form to surprise the others with the victory at the BMW Championship this weekend.

Cameron Davis

Cameron Davis has been threatening to win on the PGA Tour since July, placing T17 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, MC at the Scottish Open, T10 at the 3M Open, T7 at the Wyndham Championship, and T6 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship last weekend.

Other notable results Davis achieved during the season include placing T13 at the CJ Cup, T7 at the Australian PGA Championship (DP World Tour), T6 at the Players Championship, T17 at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, T7 at the RBC Heritage and T4 at the PGA Championship.

The 28-year-old Australian has made two appearances at the BMW Championship, finishing T29 in 2021 and T35 in 2022.

Davis has been in great touch in his last three starts and has the game to win at Olympia Fields Country Club this weekend.

Emiliano Grillo

Emiliano Grillo has been in excellent touch since mid-April on the PGA Tour, placing T7 at the RBC Heritage, T5 at the Mexico Open, T23 at the Wells Fargo Championship, MC at the PGA Championship and victory at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

Grillo's subsequent four starts were poor, finishing T48 at the Memorial Tournament, MC at the US Open, T15 at the Travelers Championship, and MC at the John Deere Classic before returning to form by placing T6 at the Open Championship, T10 at the 3M Open and T20 at the recent FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Additional highlights the 30-year-old achieved earlier in the season include placing T25 at the Fortinet Championship, T5 at the Sanderson Farms Championship and 4th at the ZOZO Championship.

The Argentine golfer has made six appearances at the BMW Championship, finishing T32 in 2016, T58 in 2017, T61 in 2018, T31 in 2019, T46 in 2021 and T19 in 2022.

Grillo can cause an upset victory and is the long-shot value bet this weekend.

Verdict

Fleetwood has been knocking hard for months and will have an excellent chance to lift the trophy this weekend.

Conners has been holding form since his victory and can take the title at the Olympia Fields Country Club come Sunday.

Davis has the form to upstage the others and win the BMW Championship.

Grillo will be out to win for the second time on the PGA Tour this year when he tees off in Chicago.
