  • The BMW PGA Championship picks for September 14-17
  • Tournament taking place at the Wentworth Golf Club in Surrey, England
  • Preview, predictions, stats & form
The BMW PGA Championship has attracted a star-studded field of the world's best golfers, including the entire European Ryder Cup Team. Who will take home the winner's cheque at Wentworth this weekend?

Shane Lowry returns to Wentworth to defend his title after a one-stroke victory over Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm last year.

The BMW PGA Championship is the fourth of five Rolex Series events on the DP World Tour for 2023.

The players will compete on the West Course at the Wentworth Golf Club.

Past major winners who will tee off on Thursday include Matt Fitzpatrick, Shane Lowry, Rory McIlroy, Francesco Molinari, Jon Rahm, Justin Rose, Padraig Harrington, Adam Scott, and Danny Willett.

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.

Matt Fitzpatrick

Matt Fitzpatrick struggled with his game on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour in recent months but has turned the corner, placing T2 at the BMW Championship, T9 at the Tour Championship and T3 at the recent Omega European Masters.

Additional highlights from Fitzpatrick's season include finishing T13 at the CJ Cup in South Carolina, T13 at the Hero World Challenge, T7 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, T14 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T10 at the Masters, victory at the RBC Heritage, T9 at the Memorial Tournament, T20 at the RBC Canadian Open and T17 at the US Open.

The 29-year-old Englishman has contested the BMW PGA Championship four times, with results of T46 in 2019, T7 in 2020, T20 in 2021 and T42 in 2022.

Fitzpatrick has been in fine fettle in his last three starts and will have a chance to lift the trophy at the Wentworth Golf Club after his recent displays on the golf course.

Ludvig Aberg

Ludvig Aberg produced an excellent final round to win his maiden DP World Tour title at the recent Omega European Masters, booking a spot on the European Ryder Cup team for his efforts.

Other noteworthy performances achieved by Aberg this season include victories at the Prestige, the Valspar Collegiate, the Big 12 Men's Championship, and the NCAA Norman Regional as an amateur before finishing T25 at the RBC Canadian Open, T24 at the Travelers Championship, T4 at the John Deere Classic, T14 at the Wyndham Championship and T4 at the D+D Czech Masters.

The former world number one amateur is making his debut at the BMW PGA Championship.

Aberg has not put a foot wrong since playing on the DP World Tour and can win back-to-back trophies this weekend.

Tom Kim

Tom Kim has been holding form on the PGA Tour since mid-July, placing T6 at the Genesis Scottish Open, T2 at the Open Championship, T24 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T10 at the BMW Championship and T20 at the Tour Championship.

Other noteworthy results achieved by Kim this season include lifting the trophy at the Shriners Children's Open and finishing T25 at the ZOZO Championship, T11 at the CJ Cup, T10 at the Hero World Challenge, T5 at the Tournament of Champions, T6 at the American Express, T16 at the Masters, T7 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, T23 at the Wells Fargo Championship and T8 at the US Open.

The 21-year-old Korean is making his debut at the BMW PGA Championship.

Tom Kim is contesting his first DP World Tour tournament this season and will fancy his chances to take top honours at the Wentworth Golf Club.

Nicolai Hojgaard

Nicolai Hojgaard was not at his best between April and July on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour this year but has rediscovered his touch lately.

He placed T21 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, MC at the Made in HimmerLand, T6 at the Genesis Scottish Open, T23 at the Open Championship, MC at the 3M Open, T14 at the Wyndham Championship, 3rd at the D+D Real Czech Masters and T5 at the recent Omega European Masters.

Other prominent performances by Hojgaard this season include finishing T10 at the ISPS Handa Australian Open, T10 at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, T5 at the Thailand Classic, 2nd at the Corales Puntacana Championship and T5 at the DS Automobiles Italian Open.

The young Dane has featured twice at the BMW PGA Championship, placing T20 in 2021 before missing the cut in 2022.

Nicolai Hojgaard has been thereabouts lately and is the long-shot value bet at the Wentworth Golf Club this weekend.

Verdict

Fitzpatrick's recent consistency makes him a contender for another DP World Tour title this weekend.

Kim has the game to be a threat at the BMW PGA Championship and should enter calculations.

Aberg has looked the part and can go all the way at the Wentworth Golf Club this weekend.

Hojgaard has been in solid form and can upstage the others with the victory in England.
