Atlanta entered this series on the back of a couple of victories and looking to build some momentum after a mixed few weeks.
The Braves ended June with a 4-2 home defeat to Pittsburgh as they missed out on a series sweep of the Pirates.
They then lost 5-3 to San Francisco, before avoiding a third consecutive defeat as they won the second meeting with the Giants, 3-1.
Atlanta failed to back that up though as they lost the final game of the series, 4-2, and they then suffered an 8-6 defeat in the series opener with Philadelphia.
The Braves bounced back impressively though, as they won the next two meetings with the Phillies, 5-1 and 6-0.
Arizona Diamondbacks Form
Arizona came into this series on the back of a successful road trip that saw them win four of their six games on the West Coast.
The Diamondbacks lost three straight home games towards the end of June, but ended the month on a positive note.
They recorded back-to-back wins over Oakland, 3-0 and 5-1, setting themselves up for a run of six straight games on the road.
Arizona started that trip in Los Angeles where they were beaten 6-5 by the Dodgers, but they bounced back quickly and took the next two meetings, 12-4 and 9-3.
The Diamondbacks then lost the series-opener in San Diego, 10-8, only to again respond well to a defeat, this time beating the Padres 7-5 and 9-1.
Verdict
Atlanta have won all but one of the six meetings this season, and a pitching advantage in this one makes them the team to back once again.
