Chicago head to Cincinnati on a good run of form that has secured their place in the postseason.
The Cubs lost three straight earlier this month, losing 2-1 and 6-3 to Washington before falling to a 4-1 defeat in Atlanta, but they have responded strongly.
They turned things around in Atlanta as they beat the Braves on back-to-back nights, 6-1 and 3-2.
Chicago then returned home briefly and sandwiched a 5-4 defeat to Tampa Bay with 6-4 and 4-3 victories over the Rays.
The Cubs then went back out on the road and secured a playoff berth as they swept Pittsburgh in three games, winning 4-0, 4-1 and 8-4.
Cincinnati Reds Form
Cincinnati return home on the back of a win, but having been on a rollercoaster run over the past few weeks that has seen them go 6-8 in their last 14 games.
The Reds’ hit-or-miss run started at home as they followed 12-9 and 13-9 defeats to Toronto with a 5-4 loss to the New York Mets.
They rallied to win the next two meetings with the Mets, 6-3 and 3-2, before heading to San Diego where they responded to a 4-3 defeat with 4-2 and 2-1 victories.
Cincinnati failed to keep that good run going though as they were swept by The Athletics, losing 3-0, 11-5 and 7-4.
The Reds fared better in St Louis though, as they won 11-6 and 6-2 either side of a 3-0 defeat to the Cardinals.
Verdict
Chicago have nothing to play for in this one, but we still like their chances.
