Chicago wrapped up a run of home games by sandwiching a 10-7 win over Seattle with 9-4 and 14-6 defeats to the Mariners.
The Cubs then lost their first two games in St Louis, 8-2 and 8-7, before rallying to split the series with 8-0 and 3-0 victories over the Cardinals.

Houston go into this matchup on a fantastic run of form, having now won 12 of their previous 15 games.
The Astros began this run with 10-2 and 4-3 wins over the Chicago White Sox, before sweeping Minnesota with 10-3, 3-2 and 2-1 wins.
They dropped the series opener against The Athletics, 3-1, but rebounded to take the next two meetings 13-3 and 11-4 before dropping the finale, 6-4.
Houston then moved on to Los Angeles where they won 3-2 and 8-7 either side of a 9-1 defeat to the Angels.
The Astros returned home after that series and enjoyed a successful homecoming as they swept Philadelphia, winning 1-0, 2-0 and 8-7.
Verdict
Houston are the team in better form, but Chicago did steady the ship over their last two games.
