Cincinnati compiled an 83-79 record to finish third in the NL Central standings and claim a place in the Wild Card round.

The Reds got over the line thanks to a solid run of form over the final few weeks of the regular season that saw them win eight of their final 11 games.

They started this good run in St Louis as they beat the Cardinals 6-2, before heading home for back-to-back series.

Cincinnati swept the Chicago White Sox with 1-0, 7-4, 6-3 and 1-0 victories, before rebounding from 4-2 and 4-3 defeats to Pittsburgh with 2-1 wins.

The Reds the wrapped up the regular season on the road, beating Milwaukee 3-1 and 7-4 before missing out on the sweep thanks to a 4-2 defeat.

Los Angeles Dodgers Form

Los Angeles secured their place in the playoffs by putting together a 93-69 record to claim top spot in the NL West standings.

The Dodgers enter the postseason in great form too, having won nine of their final 11 regular season matchups.

They began this run at home, backing up a 5-0 victory over Philadelphia with 2-1, 6-3 and 7-5 wins against San Francisco.

Los Angeles dropped the series finale with the Giants, 3-1, and then suffered a 5-4 defeat when they visited Arizona.

The Dodgers got back on track in that series though, beating the Diamondbacks 5-4 and 8-0, and they then closed out the regular season with 3-2, 5-3 and 6-1 wins in Seattle.
