Houston’s win streak reached seven games as they swept Colorado in a two-game home series, beating the Rockies 5-2 and 7-1, but it finally ended with a 7-2 defeat at the New York Mets.
The Astros issued an emphatic response to that loss though as they won the next two meetings with the Mets, 9-6 and 10-5.
Toronto Blue Jays Form
Toronto came into this series in poor form despite registering a couple of victories last week.
The Blue Jays had lost nine of their previous 12 games, starting with 7-3, 4-3 and 7-3 defeats at home to Boston.
They then went out on the road and saw their losing skid reach six games as they were swept by the Guardians in Cleveland, losing 7-1, 6-3 and 6-5.
Toronto felt to a 7-6 defeat in Boston after that, but they were finally able to end their skid at seven games when they won the second meeting with the Red Sox, 9-4.
The Blue Jays followed that up with a 9-2 home win against the New York Yankees, but had to settle for a split of the series as they then sandwiched a 9-3 win with 16-5 and 8-1 losses.
Verdict
Ronel Blanco has dominated Toronto so far in his career, so we expect a response from Houston after last night's defeat.
