Seattle enter this series having snapped a four-game skid with back-to-back wins over Los Angeles’ other team.
The Mariners started September in New York, where they sandwiched an 8-7 victory over the Mets with 2-1 and 6-3 defeats.
They then travelled to Cincinnati and suffered back-to-back defeats, 6-3 and 7-6, before finally stopping the rot with an 8-4 win.
Seattle then backed that up with a 1-0 victory in Tampa Bay, only to then lose the next three meetings with the Rays, 7-4, 7-5 and 6-3.
The Mariners then returned home to lose 8-5 to the Los Angeles Angels, but they responded well with 8-0 and 3-2 victories.
