Los Angeles came into this series on the back of a loss and in underwhelming form, having gone 4-4 in their previous eight games.
The Dodgers enjoyed a three-game winning run in late May as they beat Arizona 4-3 and 3-1, before downing the New York Mets on the road, 7-5.
They lost the next two meetings with the Mets though, 5-2 and 3-1, only to rebound in Cleveland with 7-2 and 9-5 victories.
Los Angeles missed out on the sweep as they lost the finale, 7-4, but responded to that with back-to-back home wins over the New York Yankees, 8-5 and 18-2.
The Dodgers failed to complete the sweep of the Yankees however, as they dropped the final meeting, 7-3.
