The Yankees began the postseason by splitting the first two games of the series with Kansas City, but quickly rebounded from a Game 2 defeat with 3-2 and 2-1 wins to advance.
Cleveland Guardians Form
Cleveland go into tonight's game knowing that they must now win three straight matchups with New York or their season is ove.
The Guardians dug themselves into a hole in the 'Big Apple' as they lost the first two meetings with the Yankees, 5-2 and 6-3.
They finally got off the mark when they returned home for Game 3, winning 7-5, but they failed to back that up last night as they lost 8-6, leaving them one defeat away from elimination.
Cleveland are no strangers to long series, having needed five games to get past Detroit in the Division round.
The Guardians trailed 2-1 in that series too, but battled back to force a Game 5 decider with the Tigers, which they won 5-4.
Verdict
New York are firmly in control of this series and have now won three of their last five in Cleveland.
Carlos Rodon helped set them on their way to a 5-2 victory in Game 1, and we expect repeat scenes when he heads to the mound tonight.
