The began August with a 6-5 upset of the Los Angeles Dodgers at home, but failed to follow that up as they lost the next two meetings, 10-0 and 3-2.
Oakland rallied against the Chicago White Sox, sandwiching a 5-1 defeat with 5-1 and 3-2 victories, only to then lose the series opener in Toronto, 3-1.
The A’s bounced back over the next two meetings with the Blue Jays though, backing up a 1-0 victory with an 8-4 win.
New York Mets Form
New York came into this series on the back of a tough series in Seattle that saw them get swept in three games.
The Mets enjoyed some good form during the second half of July, but they have cooled off over the past couple of series.
They opened August with a 5-1 win at the Los Angeles Angels, only to then lose the next two meetings, 5-4 and 3-2.
New York bounced back to win 6-0 in St Louis, and then responded to a 6-3 defeat in Colorado with 5-3 and 9-1 wins over the Rockies.
The Mets failed to keep that winning run going though, as they travelled to Seattle and suffered 6-0, 4-0 and 12-1 defeats at the hands of the Mariners.
Verdict
Oakland are in good form and Mitch Spence has played well in his recent outings, so give us the A's in this one.
