The Pirates began that sequence with a 3-0 loss to Houston, but they bounced back quickly with 3-0 win over the Astros.
They lost the series finale 8-2, only to respond strongly as they embarked on a four-game win streak.
Pittsburgh swept Philadelphia with a 5-4, 2-1 and 2-1 wins, before taking the series opener against Miami, 10-3.
The Pirates were unable to make it to five-in-a-row as they lost 3-2 to the Marlins, but they did respond immediately to win the final meeting 5-2.
Chicago Cubs Form
Chicago came into this series on the back of a disappointing road trip that saw them win just four times in nine games.
The Cubs opened that trip with an 8-3 win in Washington, but they were unable to follow that up as they lost 2-0 in the second game of the series.
They rallied to take the last game of the series 7-1, before moving on to Detroit where they lost 3-1 and 4-0 either side of a 6-1 victory over the Tigers.
Chicago suffered the same fate in Philadelphia too, as they lost two of their three meetings with the Phillies.
The Cubs lost the series opener 4-3, and then failed to follow up an 8-4 victory over the Phillies as they lost the final meeting 7-2.
Verdict
Paul Skenes has given up very little this season, but Pittsburgh have still won on just four of his 10 starts.
The Pirates are struggling on the road and the Cubs are in great form at home, so give us the hosts at the pick ‘em price.
