The Padres began August by sandwiching an 8-5 defeat to St Louis with 4-1 and 7-3 wins, before heading to Arizona where they rebounded from a 6-2 loss with 10-5 and 3-2 wins.
They then returned home and again lost a series opener, this time falling 10-2 to Boston, only to respond with 5-4 and 6-2 wins over the Red Sox.
San Diego built on those victories as they headed to San Francisco to sweep the Giants with 4-1, 5-1 and 11-1 wins.
However, the Padres were unable to keep that red-hot run going, as they were swept by the Dodgers, 3-2, 6-0 and 5-4.

San Diego are the team in better form despite being swept in Los Angeles last week.
