The Rangers enjoyed a five-game win streak after the season-resumed, but they were swept in a three-game series in Toronto and that sparked a downturn.
They failed to build on a 6-3 win in St Louis as they lost the final two meetings 7-3, and they then returned home and sandwiched a 7-4 win over Boston with 11-6 and 7-2 defeats.
Texas then made a winning start to the series with Houston, taking the opener 4-3, but they again failed to back up a win as they lost the next two games, 4-2 and 6-4.
The Rangers then travelled to the New York and lost 8-0 and 8-7 to the Yankees either side of a 9-4 victory.
Boston Red Sox Form
Boston entered this series having just been swept by Houston to see their current losing skid reach four games.
The Red Sox wrapped up July with a 3-2 victory at home to Seattle, and began August with an 11-6 win over Texas.
They failed to make it three-in-a-row as they then lost 7-4 to the Rangers, but they did at least issue an immediate response in the form of a 7-2 win.
Boston backed that up with 9-5 and 6-5 wins in Kansas City, only to miss out on the sweep with an 8-4 defeat that began this four-game skid.
The Red Sox returned home to end last week with a three-game series against Houston, and they suffered 8-4, 5-4 and 10-2 defeats.
Verdict
