Texas head to Seattle having been on a solid run during the second half of July, going 10-3 in their last 13 games.
The Rangers began this run with a 5-1 victory in Houston, which was backed up by 2-0 and 4-1 wins at home to Detroit.
They missed out on the series sweep of the Tigers as they lost the final meeting 2-1, but they rebounded strongly to win their next six games at home.
Texas swept the Athletics with 7-2, 6-2 and 2-1 victories, and then repeated that feat against Atlanta as they won 8-3, 6-5 and 8-1.
The Rangers’ run was halted by a 6-4 and 8-5 defeat at the Los Angeles Angels to start this week, but they did rebound last night to close out that series with a 6-3 victory.
Seattle Mariners Form
Seattle enter this series on the back of a couple of defeats, and they have now won just four of their previous 11 games.
The Mariners enjoyed a four-game win streak in the middle of July, but cooled off when they lost 11-3 to Houston and 6-0 to Milwaukee.
They avenged that loss to the Brewers with a 1-0 victory, only to lose the final game of that series 10-2.
Seattle then went out on the road and enjoyed a decent series against the Angels as they sandwiched a 3-2 loss to Los Angeles with 4-2 and 4-1 victories.
The Mariners then won the series opener against the Athletics, 3-1, only to drop the next two meetings 6-1 and 5-4.
Verdict
Texas are undoubtedly the team in better form, but Kumar Rocker is a major red flag in this one.
He has struggled on the road so far this season, so this is a good opportunity for Seattle to get back to winning ways, and we expect them to take it.
