Texas swept the Athletics with 7-2, 6-2 and 2-1 wins, and then repeated that feat against Atlanta as they ran out 8-3, 6-5 and 8-1 winners
The Rangers’ surge was ended by 6-4 and 8-5 losses at the Los Angeles Angels, but they did avoid being swept as they wrapped up that series with a 6-3 victory.
Seattle Mariners Form
Seattle came into this series on the back of a couple of losses, and having won just four of their previous 11 games.
The Mariners went on a four-game win streak in the middle of July, but cooled off when they suffered an 11-3 defeat to Houston and a 6-0 loss to Milwaukee.
They avenged that defeat to the Brewers with a 1-0 win, only to then lose the final game of that series 10-2.
Seattle went out on the road after that and enjoyed a productive series against the Angels as they won 4-2 and 4-1 either side of a 3-2 defeat.
The Mariners then won the series opener against the Athletics, 3-1, only to lose the next two meetings 6-1 and 5-4.
Verdict
Seattle have had Texas' number all season long, and that is unlikely to change tonight.
Jack Leiter has been struggling on the road and has had a couple of rough outings against the Mariners already this season, so we are backing the hosts.
