They reached the playoffs by compiling a 94-68 record to finish top of the AL East standings, winning the head to head with the New York Yankees.

Seattle go into this game in need of a momentum-changing win, having blown a two-game series lead with back-to-back defeats at home.
The Mariners made a dream start to th AL Championship Series as they won 3-1 and 10-3 in Toronto, but they have been unable to build on that at home, suffering 13-4 and 8-2 defeats to the Blue Jays.
They booked their place in the playoffs by putting together a 90-72 record to finish top of the AL West, sealing a first-round bye.
Seattle took on Detroit in the Division Series and had to rally from suffering a 3-2 home defeat in the series opener.
The Mariners responded with a 3-2 home win and an 8-4 road win, and then bounced back from a 9-3 defeat in Detroit with a series-sealing 3-2 victory at home.
Verdict
Toronto's offense has been red-hot through the last couple of games, putting them in good stead to face Bryce Miller.
