The Celtics entered the series with home court advantage, but endured a nightmare start as two big collapses resulted in 108-105 (OT) and 91-90 defeats to New York.
They rallied in Game 3 on the road though, dominating in a 115-93 victory at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.
Boston booked their place in the playoffs with a 61-21 in the regular season, and eased past Orlando in the first round of the playoffs.
The Celtics made home court advantage count as they opened up with 103-86 and 109-100 wins over the Magic, before rebounding from a 95-93 loss with 107-98 and 120-89 victories to advance.
New York Knicks Form
New York enter this second home game of this series looking to restore a two-game lead before shipping back off to Boston.
The Knicks found themselves down big in the first two games of the series, only to respond with huge comebacks to win 108-105 in overtime and 91-90 in regulation.
That put them in the driving seat in this series, but they are now clingining on to the lead after a 115-93 home defeat in Game 3.
New York sealed their spot in the playoffs by going 51-31 in the regular season, and they downed Detroit 4-2 in the first round, starting with a 123-112 victory at home.
The Knicks then responded to a 100-94 loss with 118-116 and 94-93 road wins, before bouncing back from a 106-103 home defeat with a series-clinching 116-113 win in Detroit.
Verdict
Boston got themselves back on the series at the weekend, and we expect them to now knot it up at 2-2.
The Celtics have been flawless at MSG so far this year, and beyond that they have been stacking up road wins at a rapid rate.
