Houston head out on the road having kept the series alive with their Game 5 win, but knowing one more defeat will end their season.
The Rockets opened up the series at home but surrendered their advantage with a 95-85 defeat to Golden State in Game 1.
They rebounded with a 109-94 victory, only to then head out on the road and suffer back-to-back losses in the bay area, losing 104-93 and 109-106.
That left Houston on the brink of elimination, but they fended that off for the time being with a 131-116 home win on Wednesday.
The Rockets earned their spot in the playoffs by compling a 52-30 record to finish second in the Western Conference.
Golden State Warriors Form
Golden State return home having passed up on the chance to clinch on the road, but knowing that a victory here will see them through.
The Warriors made a great start to this series as they went out on the road to win 95-85 in Houston.
They dropped the next game, 109-94, but returned home to take control of the series as they beat the Rockets 104-93 and 109-106 at the Chase Center.
Golden State had the chance to wrap things up in Houston on Wednesday, but they failed to take their chance as they were beaten 131-116.
The Warriors claimed their place in the playoffs by going 48-34 in the regular season and beating Memphis 121-116 in the Play-In Tournament.
Verdict
Steve Kerr made the smart move by pulling his starters early in that Game 5 defeat.
They will be raring to go here in front of the home crowd, and we expect the Warriors to issue an immediate response and wrap up this series.
