BYU booked their place in the Big 12 Championship game by winning eight of their nine conference games while going 11-1 overall.
The Cougars began the season unranked, only for three non-conference wins to propel them into AP’s top 25 ahead of their Big 12 opener.
They kicked off their conference slate with a 24-21 win at Colorado, and backed that up by sandwiching a 33-27 road win at Arizona with home victories against West Virginia, 38-24, and Utah, 24-21.
BYU then made it 5-0 in conference action as they won 41-27 at Iowa State, only to see their perfect run end with a 29-7 loss at Texas Tech.
The Cougars issued an immediate response with a 44-13 blowout of TCU, and closed out the regular season by beating Cincinnati 26-14 and UCF 41-21.

Texas Tech secured their trip to the Big 12 Championship by also winning eight of their nine conference games while going 11-1 overall.
The Red Raiders opened with three consecutive non-conference wins, before kicking off their conference slate with a 34-10 win at Utah and a 35-11 success in Houston.
They then beat Kansas 42-17 in their home opener, before seeing their perfect start end with a 27-22 defeat at Arizona State.
Texas Tech bounced back with a 42-0 shutout of Oklahoma State, and followed it up by beating Kansas State 43-20 on the road.
The Red Raiders then won back-to-back home games, beating BYU 29-7 and UCF 48-9, before wrapping up the regular season with a 49-0 demolition of West Virginia.
Verdict
Texas Tech shut down BYU’s offense when the two teams met in the regular season, and we expect similar scenes here.
