The Owls opened the season with back-to-back road defeats against non-conference opposition, before rallying with a couple of home wins before the Conference USA schedule began.
They kicked off their conference slate with a 24-16 win over Middle Tennessee State, and then sandwiched a 45-26 victory at Florida International with home wins over Louisiana tech, 35-7, and UTEP, 33-20.
Kennesaw State then made it seven wins in a row with a 24-21 success at New Mexico State, only to see their streak end with a 35-26 defeat at Jacksonville State.
The Owls bounced back quickly though, backing up a 41-34 win over Missouri State with a 48-42 victory at Liberty to close out the regular season.

The Gamecocks then beat Kennesaw State 35-26, before rebounding from a 27-21 loss at Florida International with a 37-34 home win over Western Kentucky.
