The Mean Green opened the season with three straight non-conference wins, before kicking off their conference schedule with a 45-38 victory at Army.
They backed that up with another non-conference win a week later, only to then suffer their first defeat of the season as they returned to AC duty to lose 63-36 to South Florida.
North Texas have rebounded with six straight wins though, having sandwiched a 54-20 win in Charlotte with home wins against UTSA, 55-17, and Navy, 31-17.
The Mean Green then went out on the road to beat UAB 53-224 and Rice 56-24, before wrapping up the regular season with a 52-25 home win against Temple.
Tulane Form
Tulane go into this conference championship clash having won their final four games of the regular season to finish 10-2.
The Green Wave opened the campaign with four non-conference wins, before suffering a 45-10 defeat when they visited Ole Miss.
They rebounded in their American Conference opener as they beat Tulsa on the road, 31-14, and they backed that up at home by beating East Carolina 26-19 and Army 24-17.
Tulane’s run was ended by a 48-26 at UTSA, but they rebounded a week later to knock off ranked Memphis 38-32 on the road, and followed that up with a 35-24 home win against Florida Atlantic.
The Green Wave then beat Temple 37-13 on the road, before shutting out Charlotte in a 27-0 home win.
Verdict
These two teams produced fireworks when they met in 2024 and we could see more of the same here.
