Georgia vs Alabama Preview & Picks

Alabama are tipped to cover as a slight underdog in the SEC Championship.

The Crimson Tide have had the Bulldogs’ number over the past decade, and the offense has enough firepower to at the very least keep this to within a field goal, or perhaps win outright.

  • Alabama are 9-1 in the last 10 games against Georgia
  • Alabama are 5-1-0 ATS in the last 6 meetings with Georgia
  • The Under has cashed in 8 of Alabama’s last 9 games
  • The Under has hit in 5 of Georgia’s last 7 games

Head To Head

  • Alabama lead the all-time series 45-26-1
  • Alabama won 224-21 when the two teams last met on September 27

Georgia Form

Georgia enter the SEC Championship game having rebounded from a regular season loss to Alabama with eight straight wins to finish 11-1.

The Bulldogs opened with back-to-back non-conference wins, before kicking off their SEC schedule with a 44-41 victory at Tennessee.

They failed to back that up a week later as they suffered a setback, losing 24-21 at home to Alabama, but they rebounded from that setback with eight consecutive wins.

Georgia sandwiched a 20-10 win at Auburn with home success against Kentucky, 35-14, and Ole Miss, 43-45, before heading to Jacksonville to take down Florida, 24-20.

The Bulldogs them beat Mississippi State 41-21 and Texas 35-10, and after a non-conference win over Charlotte, they wrapped up the regular season with a 16-9 victory over Georgia Tech.

Alabama Form

Alabama are headed to the SEC Championship despite last month’s loss to Oklahoma, having put together a 10-2 regular-season record.

The Crimson Tide made a nightmare start as they lost 31-17 to unranked Florida State, but they rallied over the next couple of weeks with two non-conference wins before starting their SEC slate.

They opened with four consecutive games against ranked teams and took all four of them, beating Georgia 24-21 on the road, Vanderbilt 30-14 at home, Missouri 27-24 on the road and Tennessee 37-20 at home.

Alabama then won 29-22 in South Carolina and 20-9 at home to LSU, only to see their perfect SEC run end with a 23-21 loss to Oklahoma.

The Crimson Tide rebounded from that loss with a blowout non-conference win, before sealing their conference championship berth with a 27-20 victory at Auburn.

Verdict

Georgia are the team in better form, but we simply cannot look past the recent trend when it comes to wins and meetings.

Alabama have won nine of the last 10 while covering in five of the last six, so we are taking the Crimson Tide and the free points in this latest meeting.
