Ole Miss Form

Ole Miss enter the college football playoffs having rebounded from the loss in Georgia with five straight wins to finish 11-1.

The Rebels opened with a non-conference win, but quickly got into their SEC schedule as they beat Kentucky 30-23 on the road and Arkansas 41-35 at home.

They then blew out playoff opponents Tulane, 45-10, before returning to conference duty to take down LSU 24-19.

Ole Miss backed that up with a 24-21 win over Washington State, only to see their perfect start end a week later as they lost 34-35 in Georgia.

The Rebels rebounded quickly though, and followed up a 34-26 win at Oklahoma with a 30-14 victory at home to South Carolina.

They then registered another non-conference win, before closing out their SEC slate by beating Florida 34-24 at home and Mississippi State 38-19 on the road.

Tulane Form

Tulane booked their place in the college football playoffs by winning the American Conference championship.

The Green Wave kicked off the campaign with three consecutive non-conference wins, before suffering a 45-10 defeat at the hands of Ole Miss.

They rebounded in their conference opener, winning 31-14 at Tulsa, and then backed that up at home as they downed East Carolina, 26-19, and Army, 24-17.

Tulane’s run was ended by a 48-26 loss at UTSA, but that would prove to be their final defeat of the regular season.

The Green Wave rebounded by upsetting Memphis on the road, 38-32, and they followed that up by beating Florida Atlantic 35-24, Temple 37-13 and Charlotte 27-0.

That secured them a spot in the American Conference Championship, and they earned their playoff place by beating North Texas 34-21.

Verdict

Lane Kiffin’s exit is a big blow to Ole Miss, but judging by the reaction of some of the players the Rebels could be more fired up than ever.

They blew out Tulane in the regular season, and another convincing win could be on the cards here.
