Detroit Lions at Washington Commanders Preview & Picks

Detroit are tipped to cover as they bounce back from the shock loss to Minnesota.

Nobody in the Lions camp will be pressing the panic button, and this meeting with a Washington team with a bad pass defense and without Jaylen Daniels is perfect timing.

  • Detroit Lions are 5-2 in their last 7 games
  • Detroit Lions are 5-2-0 ATS in their previous 7 games
  • Washington Commanders are 1-3 without Jaylen Daniels this season
  • The Over has cashed in each of the previous 3 meetings

Head To Head

  • Washington Commanders lead the all-time series 32-16
  • Washington Commanders won 45-31 when the two teams last met on January 18

Detroit Lions Form

Detroit head out on the road looking to rebound from a surprise home defeat that dropped them to 5-3.

The Lions opened the season with a 27-13 defeat in Green Bay, but rebounded in emphatic fashion with a four-game win streak.

They blew out Chicago 52-21, and backed that up by beating Baltimore 38-30 on the road, Cleveland 34-10 at home and Cincinnati 37-24 on the road.

Detroit’s run was finally ended by a 30-17 loss at Kansas City, but they rebounded before the bye week with a 24-9 success against Tampa Bay.

The Lions failed to back that up though, as they returned to action with a 27-24 defeat to Minnesota last weekend.

Washington Commanders Form

Washington enter this matchup on a four-game losing skid that has seen their record plummet to 3-6.

The Commanders enjoyed a winning start to the season as they beat the New York Giants 21-6, and they then rebounded from a 27-18 loss in Green Bay with a 41-24 blowout of Las Vegas.

Their inconsistent form continued as they then had to bounce back from a 34-27 loss to Atlanta with a 27-10 victory at the Los Angeles Chargers.

Washington then lost 25-24 at home to Chicago, and that proved to be the start of this four-game skid.

The Commanders went out on the road to lose 44-22 in Dallas and 28-7 at Kansas City, before returning home to fall 38-14 to Seattle.

Verdict

Detroit were beaten last time out, but this is a great opportunity for them to get back on track.

Washington’s season is spiralling with Jaylen Daniels back on the sidelines, and we expect the Lions to take full advantage.
